The Bilstein B8 8112 ZoneControl front coilover is one of the most capable front suspension upgrades available for the 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner. Designed for drivers who want real performance on- and off-road, this is not a spacer lift or entry-level shock — it’s a true 2.65” body coilover with remote reservoir and position-sensitive damping.
This setup uses a 600 lb/in main spring, which is where proper expectations matter. Because the 4th gen 4Runner came with two very different front-end weights depending on engine choice, lift height varies by V6 vs V8. The threaded spring seat allows height tuning, but vehicle weight ultimately determines where the coilover settles.

Why the 8112 Is Different
Bilstein’s ZoneControl® CR technology uses a triple-piston design to vary damping based on shock position — not speed alone. That means compliant ride quality on pavement and washboard roads, while staying controlled when the suspension hits larger impacts at speed.
The included remote reservoir increases oil volume and cooling capacity, making this coilover ideal for desert driving, mountain roads, and long trail days where standard shocks fade.
